We began signing with our oldest child for “fun.” Then, when our daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder at eight months of age, we signed with her out of necessity. Her diagnosis was bleak – we were told she would likely never talk. Today, at age five, though she still has significant speech delays, she communicates effectively using a combination of both ASL and verbal words. We love “My Smart Hands” and are incredibly thankful for this resource.
